you sent your sons to fight your wars and when you found out that they were dead on foreign ground you shout, "i'm dead now!" everything falls apart eventually and you know that but you remember the time when everything collapsed in front of your eyes, but you didn't crumble a bit you're crumbling now you'll wash away with the tide soon enough (and now the power's out and we will sleep tonight together finally)
2.
my best guess wasn't good enough and i've tried and fallen apart well i'm comparable to a crumbling wall suppose that i'm dying brick by brick and all my feeble worthless attempts cease to try, cease to live i am a suffering soul dying breed, long lost cause i pin my problems on the ones i love built myself up so very high up and up with mortar and stone (water erodes inside my hulls) if you try to run, we'll see you and if you attempt to leave, we'll stop you and if you refuse, we'll question you take you in, interrogate you if you try to run, we'll see you and if you attempt to leave, we'll stop you and if you refuse, we'll arrest you build you a jail of mortar and stone

Silkworm 02:25
is this the last time you'll be in my bed is this the last time i'll see you again when i wake from my dreams i'll be mute, i won't say anything when you're gone i fall apart i break to pieces every time does the devil stand on my heart sends his armies out to fight am i crying cause i can't tell am i bleeding all i see is red and now i see that side of me that side that's been hiding like that silkworm in the closet that only blooms once you've seen it
4.
Static Life 05:50
when will the rain stop falling down when will i know the truth, what it's all about can you try, will you try to tell me about last night can you try, tell me all those things you keep inside, but keep sharp like a knife don't you know how you make me feel sometimes don't you know the reasons why i wanna run and hide do you think i'm a little too weak for this do you think i should turn back down that road again couldn't tell you why couldn't tell you why i ever tried when will the sun come out again it's been days, static life among decaying plants i'll find you some place where you'll get some rest i can try, i can try for your sake as well as mine can you say with some truth we'll never meet again no more calls, no more late night walks in the park one last touch, one last time to feel alright i don't know if i'd ever be able to say goodbye couldn't tell you why couldn't tell you why i ever tried
5.
Hymn 04:08
don't worry it will end soon don't worry the end is soon you'll be in sweet heaven you've heard this before in a hymn so whisper out your last goodbyes you won't make it to sunrise you've heard this before in a hymn you'll be in sweet heaven don't shoot until you see the whites of their eyes
6.
Rant 01:15
i was then alone and lonely like cattail stalks near the pond i shivered and shook i knew it was once possible to have company to the sound of my own voice so i ranted away through the rest of my days

all i have to give is all that i am and all i have to give is all that i am what's worse than being alone at night while the storm comes what's worse than being alone at night while the storm comes i hate the thunder and i hate the rain i hate the thunder and all the lightning will you stay with me until the sun comes up will you stay with me until i'm sleeping until i'm dreaming you could leave me there in a never-ending coma you could leave me there if it serves you well you could leave me there in a never-ending coma you could leave me there if it suits you well does it suit you well here comes the sun

Yellowcake 05:10
if you see me here tomorrow then you'll know i couldn't make it home if you plan to light my fire don't you see the devil in us all gleaming yellowcake world bottled up, sold at the store shattered glass gossip submarine under blocks of stone when i turn my face toward the sky all i see are rainclouds hovering over when i turn my gaze toward your eyes everything starts to crumble things will stay the same i'll just go by a different name further down along the road i'll make a home for us both every time i break from pressure give me light and give me water i'll take all that i can get you'll give me everything you got when i turn my face toward the sky all i see are rainclouds hovering over when i turn my gaze toward your eyes everything starts to crumble when i hold your hand in mine i don't feel so brave any longer when i hurt you go, run, hide everything starts to rumble under me

the sun sets--an eye, golden brown just before the golden hour i await your touch or some embrace for warmth hidden within the fields of grain that sway nostalgically on rumors of rain i sit in repose the sun mystifies the clouds above their white wool sloughing to reveal inner hearts of auburn and rose the harshest light of all appears during dusk, my face receives it with the greatest joy one can have toward the death of light the death of joy the baby blinks--her eyes, golden brown when the locusts arrive don't be afraid if the swarm obscures your eyes i will always remember them unforgettable constellation i remember your eyes i remember them

Landscape 03:19
my body's breaking my hand's been shaking for a while look at my message have i been lying the whole time i can't be honest you'd never believe it anyways let's play a fun game of hide and seek in the oven there's a landscape i can't explain
17.
Desdemona 02:20
i am not what i am i'm just the shadow of a man falling in love with your pity felt like falling for the first time don't act like you don't know it don't act like you never saw don't act like you don't know it don't act like you never saw
18.
Unnecessary 05:18
"i was here, it was 3am and no one was around. everything was glowing orange from the streetlights and the snow. i looked up at the skyscrapers and felt dizzy. for once, i felt expendable and disposable. i was just one person, walking by myself in the dead hour of the city. it was all so completely unnecessary. just like i'm unnecessary."

about

this is a compilation of many miscellaneous demos and songs written from ages 14-20. these songs were in various states of completion, recorded with utter disregard for sonic quality. i've tried my best to master and edit these to be a bit more listenable for you.

recorded from 2007 to 2013, in indianapolis and bloomington.
